Your skills for God's glory

Proverbs 22:29
"Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men."

This verse reminds us that hard work and skill in our chosen field can lead to great success and recognition, even before those in positions of authority and power. As Christ followers, we can take Proverbs 22:29 to heart and strive to be the best in our work, not just for our own personal gain, but for the glory of God.
When we put in the effort to excel in our field, we are not only serving our employers and clients, but we are also bearing witness to the love and excellence of our Lord. Our skill and dedication to our work can be a reflection of our faith, and can open doors for us to share the Gospel with those around us.However, it's important to remember that true success is not measured by the recognition and approval of others, but by the approval of God. It's not about standing before kings or important people but about standing before God in righteousness. We should strive to do our work with integrity and excellence, not for the sake of personal gain or recognition, but as an act of worship to God.We should always keep in mind that our ultimate goal is to serve God and to bring Him glory through our work.

CHALLENGE:
Let’s put our faith first, and strive to do our best in all that we do, we can trust that God will use our efforts for His purposes and bring us the success and recognition that He desires for us.

PRAYER:
Lord, guide me in my work, that I would strive to excel in my chosen field for Your glory. Help me to remember that my ultimate goal is to serve You and to bring You glory through my work.

REFLECT:
Are there ways in which you can better reflect the love and excellence of God in your skills and service in your workplace?

Integrity in action

Proverbs 11:1
"A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight."

As Christians in business, we are called to conduct ourselves with integrity and honesty, which includes being fair and truthful in all of our business dealings.
In today's business world, it can be easy to be tempted to cut corners, inflate prices, or hide information in order to make a profit. But as believers, we are called to a higher standard. We are called to be people of integrity, who conduct ourselves with honesty and fairness, even when it may not be the easiest or most profitable option.
It is important to remember that our actions and behavior reflect not only on ourselves, but also on our faith. As Christ followers, we are called to be salt and light in the world, and that includes in the workplace. We should strive to be examples of God's love and justice in the way we conduct business. We should also strive to be honest and transparent in all our business dealings, treating our customers, employees and suppliers with respect and fairness. We should be mindful of our actions and decision, making sure they align with our values and principles.

CHALLENGE:
Let's conduct our business with integrity and fairness, always keeping in mind that the Lord is watching and will reward those who conduct their business with justice and fairness.

PRAYER:
Lord, help us to conduct ourselves with integrity, honesty and fairness in all of our dealings. Give us the wisdom to make difficult decisions that reflect your justice and love.

REFLECT:
Are there areas in which you can improve in terms of integrity and honesty? Pray for the courage to make difficult, but right decisions, even if they may be costly.

Making plans with divine direction

Proverbs 16:3
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

When we commit our plans to the Lord, we are entrusting them to the one who knows what is best for us. It is a reminder that our ways are not always His ways and that His plans are greater than our own. By committing our plans to the Lord, we are acknowledging that He is in control and that we need His guidance in order for our plans to be successful.
One way to commit our plans to the Lord is by regularly bringing them before Him in prayer. We can ask for His wisdom and guidance in decision making, and we can also ask for His protection and provision as we move forward. Additionally, we can seek counsel from other believers who can offer a different perspective and provide insight into how we can align our plans with God's will.
Another way to commit our plans to the Lord is by acknowledging Him in all that we do. Whether it is in the small details of our daily tasks or in the bigger decisions of our lives, we can choose to do everything as if we are doing it for the Lord. This means putting Him first in all things and being mindful of His will in every aspect of our lives.

CHALLENGE:
In committing our plans to the Lord, we can trust that He will establish them and bring about His perfect plan for our lives. Rest in the knowledge that He is sovereign and that He is working all things together for our good and for His glory.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, help me to commit my plans to you. Give me the wisdom and the guidance that I need to make decisions that align with your will. Help me to trust in your sovereignty and to rest in the knowledge that you are working all things together for my good and for your glory. Amen.

REFLECT:
What are the plans, decisions, and actions that you would like to commit and entrust to God today?
